Today, students worked in a studio space at The Umbrella Community Arts Center. They experimented and played with paint and materials, and eventually began to consider how they might make sculptures that mimic native and invasive natural forms. After weeks of research into hosting an artist in residence here in Minuteman National Park, it was thrilling to finally experience the making process first hand! We reveled in the textures and colors and freedom, as laughter and music filled the studio.
Next, week we will complete some forms and take them into the woods to photograph.
